His Blessed Epiphany (A Regency Holiday Romance Book 9) Page 19
“Just like you, Tiny,” Freddie said. “Oh, we have to see this beast. Now, why is he called Lord Rascal?”
“That’s the nickname I have for Lord Blessing…whenever we were alone, I would call him that. I haven’t done it since we have been reacquainted. Mayhap, I should,” Fanny said proudly. “Even back then, I knew that Felix had a noble heart.”
“Terrible beast or no, he has never thrown a rider. Grey threw you,” the Colonel pointed out.
“That was my fault entirely,” Fanny said, her cheeks going red. “I never should have taken him out when the hunt was on. I was warned that he might be skittish, and I paid the grooms no mind.”
“That does sound like you,” Felix said.
“Oh, hush. I am not usually that stubborn.” Fanny gave him a withering stare.
“Whatever you like to think, love.”
“This Lord Rascal, is he a gelding as well?” Freddie asked.
“No,” the Colonel laughed. “He is a stallion with the temperament to match. I rode him just last week on New Year’s Day, and he behaved himself. He does need a firm hand though. He just needs to know who is in charge.”
“That doesn’t surprise me, Colonel. Everyone in their right frame of mind knows not to disobey you,” Felix chuckled.
“Indeed,” the Colonel returned. “Well, lads, I am quite certain you are all famished. Would you like to dine with us? As the time has slipped away it shall be time for dinner shortly.”
“I could eat,” Freddie mused.
“You are always hungry, Mouse.”
“That’s right, I am, Tiny. But then, so are you.”
“I shouldn’t wonder why,” the Colonel said. “Fanny, perhaps, you should go and put on more suitable attire.”
“Yes, yes,” Fanny rushed out. “I think I should.”
She dashed out of the room. Felix stood up. “I think I ought to go and help her,” he said.
“Well, I see there is nothing wrong with him,” Lewis mused.
“She has a maid for that, mate,” Freddie pointed out.
“I know,” Felix said, grinning madly. He left the Library. “Wait for me, Fanny,” he called up to her.
He had it all.
He had his blessed Epiphany that he loved desperately, and who loved him in return, and her father had become his father, and now after too many years of being a rakehell, he was a reformed sinner.
He was a Blessing.
